Congratulations to Iowa Public TV Doctor Who audiences. Reports out of Iowa are that Doctor Who achieved its pledge goal in two breaks instead of three on the 13th during a showing of Voyage of the Damned (special 9PM broadcast versus the usual 11PM). As a result, the third break was cancelled. It is also reported that due to a technical issue the final 7 minutes of Voyage of the Damned were cut off and did not air on the 13th. IPTV has scheduled a special pledge free encore of the episode on Saturday 27 March at 10:55PM CDT to solve the issue (all future episodes pushed back 1 week). IPTV currently turns off their over the air transmitter (also used for DirecTV and Dish Network) at Midnight, but has promised to keep it on the air until after Doctor Who finishes. As the episode is 72 minutes long, it is mildly amusing to note that, if they forget and turn off the transmitter at the regular time (65 minutes into the special repeat), much of the audience will AGAIN miss the last 7 minutes of this episode.

Milwaukee Public TV's pledge night on the 13th also had some complications. Two showings of The Making Of Star Wars in Concert was added to the schedule at the last minute, moving programs around. The Doctor Who pledge night shifted from a 9:30PM start to a 10PM start. The first showing of Planet of the Ood started at 10:07PM. The expected Doctor Who Confidential of Oods and Ends did fit in the programming block. A same night repeat of Planet of the Ood started at 11:38PM. Eagle eyed viewers of the repeat noticed an emergency substitution - Doctor Who Confidential episode The Valient Quest aired after Planet of the Ood the second time. MPTV was trying to start their 1AM show on time, and The Valient Quest was a shorter installment, allowing them to get back on track. Due to airing Planet of the Ood twice, MPTV plans to skip it in the 4th and final run through this package of episodes, assuming they air the package 4 times before it expires.

WGBY 57 Springfield, MA - we have no information on how the pledge night
went on 13 March. No reports on the website. No reports from viewers.
Neither Doctor Who nor Doc Martin appear in the Saturday 3 April listings.
WGBY indicated that the show that did better in getting pledge support that
night would be added to the Saturday night lineup - they did not say how
soon it would happen.

As noted in the first section of today's edition, mixed signals on how the
new episodes will be labeled (new producer Steven Moffat said 31 or 1, but
never Series 5 - publicity is now saying Series 5), has led me to revise our
listings. For the original run (1963 to 1989), no one disputes the numbering
of the 26 seasons/series. But for 2005 onwards, since there is a dispute, we
will go by the year of the episode. Rose is thus 2005-01. The Christmas
Invasion is 2005-Xmas. Planet Of The Dead is 2009-01. Etc.

I am confident that there are more stations with rights to Series 2007 and
2008 than that. But these are the stations who have contacted me or
scheduled the show.

Series 2006 is currently available to public TV stations in an American
Public TV package until March 31, 2010. For the Series 2005 and 2006
packages, stations bought the rights to cycle through the episodes 4 times.
They are not required to do so.

2 Public TV stations currently have rights to air the classic Doctor Who run
(1963-1989), but not New Who. KBTC 28 Tacoma, WA is airing Colin Baker
episodes. WHRO 15 Norfolk, VA has been airing Tom Baker episodes, but the
show is now missing from the schedule. These are also purchased from BBC
Worldwide Americas.

One more stations will use Doctor Who for pledge purposes in March:
